Many of your readers may recall this advertising slogan from a few years ago: “Let the train take the strain.”
So here is my question: what is the maximum number of standing passengers allowed on a train?
Buses and taxis have rules on this but I have never seen any information or guidelines on a train.
The reason I ask is that on Brighton and Hove Albion match days the trains from Seaford to Falmer cram in supporters and other passengers like sardines.
If ever an unfortunate accident occurred, I dread to think what the outcome would be in terms of overcrowding.
So, over to other readers: what are the guidelines (or even perhaps the law) where this is concerned?
