The letter about building a new hospital at Toads Hole Valley (The Argus, May 14) is timely. This was also my thought.

I grew up in Cambridge and in the late 1960s it was decided to build a new hospital outside the city centre.

There was lots of uproar but what do they have now?

A hospital with a worldwide reputation, easy access from the motorways and of use to so many research companies.

The site is huge and they are still building.

The Toads Hole Valley site would be perfect as it is on the edge of the A27 dual carriageway system and close to the A23 to London.

Then the old Royal Sussex County Hospital could become a new housing development.

This would also make the lives of those working in the emergency services a lot easier.
