Through my letterbox comes a letter saying that from May 15, for 12 days, Eastern Road in Brighton will be reduced to one lane so that a gas main can be laid for the temporary buildings on the site of the Royal Sussex County Hospital as part of the redevolopment.

Well they kept that a secret – the road is going to be a nightmare. It is severely congested now in both directions.

I know as I sit in it every evening at 5.30pm, trying to get home.

The question is, what other surprises are going to come out of the woodwork, now that the hospital has the go-ahead, that we have not been told or warned about?
