A cannabis farmer has been jailed after police raided a home and found “a fully set up cannabis production site”.

Sussex Police officers searched a home in Herbrand Walk in Bexhill, in August 2012 and found three mature cannabis plants, a large quantity of fresh herbal cannabis and 467 smaller plants or cuttings.

Christopher Johnson, of Cooper Drive in Bexhill, was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment at Hove Crown Court on Monday May 5 after being found guilty of both production of cannabis and of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

The court also issued a financial order under the Proceeds of Crime Act allowing police to seize any money or assets that the 51-year-old may have.

A second defendant, 39-year-old Gary Usher of Chambers Crescent in St Leonards, was found not guilty of cannabis production.
