I endorse the sentiment of Lesley Kite and others highlighting the curse of “bonfire man” (Letters, May 7).
Regrettably we also have the odd “burner” here in North Portslade, setting fire to garden cuttings in a residential area without any regard for neighbours trying to dry their clothing.
This selfish and lazy minority have no thought for those of us wishing to enjoy a quite read in our gardens without breathing in toxins from their antisocial fires. Perhaps a by-law or policy on burning is required.
I believe it should be prohibited during July and August.
After all there are enough barbecues to contend with.
