Brighton and Hove council starts legal action to evict travellers
Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking an eviction order to remove an unauthorised encampment of travellers and gypies on land at Surrenden Field near London Road.
The council made a joint visit to the site with police yesterday morning.
Officers have now instructed the authority's legal team to issue court proceedings in an effort to obtain possession of the land.
They will now be applying to the county court for a possession order, which will allow the council to arrange for an eviction to get the land back.
