A COMMUNITY champion was invited to Number 10 to meet the Prime Minister.
Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company director Rebecca Crook was invited to meet David Cameron at a recent reception in Downing Street.
She was accompanied by Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby who has backed her bid to revitalise the lido.
The Community Interest Company was granted a 60-year-old lease for the art deco seaside attraction in December and a £5 million renovation is hoped to be completed in time for the summer of 2016.
Ms Crook said: ‘It was an excellent opportunity to let the Prime Minister know of the work we have been doing and the benefits for local people in bringing forward plans for the Saltdean Lido to be improved.
“The community interest company will now work with local people to see the plans become reality.”
Mr Kirby said: “I have been delighted to work with Rebecca in ensuring the lido is improved as a facility for Saltdean people.
“Rebecca is incredibly hard working and encourages all those around her.
“She has been a tower of strength in bringing a new vision for the Lido to fruition.”
