This lively picture of the beach in Kemp Town, Brighton, was probably taken more than a century ago.
Swimmers and fishermen are mixing happily on the busy beach in a way that would not be possible today.
In Marine Parade there are several familiar buildings, including those in Royal Crescent which are set back from others on the right. The middle terrace at Madeira Drive had been built and has provided a good grandstand for hundreds of events but is now closed because of serious structural problems.
The picture was sent in by Mrs S Crawford of Framfield, near Uckfield.
