What is it about Brighton and Hove that makes you happy?
That’s the question being put to the city’s more than 250,000 residents in a bid to get people feeling good about themselves and their lives.
It might be sitting on the beach, getting involved with a community group, visiting the Royal Pavilion or going for a swim.
Or it could be meeting people in your local cafe or taking part in major events like the Brighton Marathon, Brighton Festival or Pride.
The city council and local NHS are joining forces, with support from The Argus, in a bid to find out what leads to happiness in Brighton and Hove and how they can create more of it.
They are hoping this will help them develop more ways to promote and encourage mental wellbeing.
The aim is to explore how wellbeing can be increased through use of existing services such as gyms and swimming pools, arts and culture, including theatres, cinemas, events and festivals, open spaces and parks and other attractions.
They will also be looking at health services for people with mental illnesses.
The two organisations want to decide what areas need further investment and what people need more information about.
They will also work towards making it easier to find and access a whole host of activities and help and support.
Christa Beesley, chief clinical officer for the city’s clinical commissioning group, said: “Together with the council we want to help create a city where people are supported in being happier and enjoying positive wellbeing.
“This might be through the arts and culture events on offer in the city or through the health services we provide, which can help people when they are struggling with mental health conditions.
“That’s why we have joined together to find out how people in Brighton and Hove are feeling.”
People interested in helping develop the strategy can fill out a survey about how they use services in the city and what helps them relax or makes them happy.
To complete it go to http://consult.brighton-hove.gov.uk/portal/nhs/health/happiness_and_mental_wellbeing/happiness__mental_wellbeing_survey.
An awareness event is also taking place on April 22 from 10am to noon at the Brighthelm Centre in North Road, Brighton.
