There is no shortage of fun nights down at The Ladies Mile pub in Patcham but what makes them special is they are all for a good cause.

Each year managers Gayle and Paul Newman pick a charity to support and this year it is Chestnut Tree House.

The Ladies Mile hosts a number of quiz nights with every contestant paying £1 to enter and all proceedings go towards the hospice.

At the last quiz night held by the pub on February 8 they managed to raise £40.

Mr Newman was please with the large turn out and said: “Next time we are hoping to raise £60 for the same charity.”

On Wednesday, April 16 The Ladies Mile pub will host its next quiz night.

Charlotte Leng, marketing officer for Chestnut Tree House said the hospice receive less than 8% of the total cost from the central government.

Therefore it heavily relies on the generosity and support of the local community.

Miss Leng said: “Events like the quiz night organise by The Ladies Mile in Patcham raise much-needed funds that ensure the hospice can continue to care for life-shortened children and their families.”

She added: “On behalf of everyone at Chestnut Tree House I would like to thank The Ladies Mile for their fundraising efforts and wish them the best of luck with their quiz night.”

Chestnut Tree House near Arundel, is the only children’s hospice in Sussex and cares for children with progressive life-limiting conditions.
