Level Skateboards is hosting professional athletes from the skating world for an upcoming competition.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2) a skating derby will take place at The Level with four custom skateboards to be won.
International skaters visiting include Justin Brock, Robbie Brockel and others who have sponsorships from top brands including Nike, Adidas and Spitfire.
Level Skateboard owners Fay and Simon Russell are hosting the professional skaters at the shop in Ditchling Road for autograph session and pictures with the fans.
Skating brand PIXELS organised the competition, which involves “skate, race and slam”.
Mrs Russell said: “It’s like a derby with cars except with skateboards and there are prizes for survivors.”
The American skaters will be taking part in the open competition along with accomplished skaters from Brighton and Hove.
Contestants are to skate and exhibit tricks in the concrete area for as long as possible. Knocking skaters off their boards is also allowed.
Mr and Mrs Russell have been running their skating store since September 2013.
They say the business has been running well since they opened thanks to renovations done on the Level Park in July last year and look forward to the park’s first skating competition.
Autograph signing will begin at 4pm with the derby starting after.
All are welcome to attend although experience is necessary if you wish to take part in the competition.
