The letter by Bill Swallow (The Argus, March 26) is quite right that controlled parking zones penalise visitors but what about the elderly residents who won’t get visitors as highlighted by the residents of Ditchling Gardens?
Friends or family can’t be expected to pay up to £3 each time they visit for a couple of hours.
Residents apparently are allowed 50 vouchers a year at £2.60 each for one whole day of parking a week. I’m sure most of us probably get a visitor for a whole day once a year.
Councillor Leo Littman tells me I could get free vouchers if I had a carer – big deal. So being lonely is OK as long as the Greens get the money in. Are there any Conservative or Labour councillors out there prepared to fight for lonely elderly residents to get a fair deal?
It’s not too much to ask.
