A man was rescued after being heard screaming for help on the beach.
The Eastbourne lifeboat was called out on Saturday afternoon following reports of a distressed person on the beach near Beachy Head lighthouse
The man, who was in his mid 40s, was said to have been in the area since Friday afternoon.
He had become cold and confused and attracted attention by starting to scream.
Members of the public contacted Dover Coastguard, who sent the Eastbourne RNLI team out to help.
Volunteer lifeboat crewman Trevor Moule went ashore to to check the man's condition.
After an assessment, the man came on board and was taken back to the lifeboat station at Fisherman's Green.
There he received further counselling before an ambulance arrived to take him to hospital for a check up.
