A massive rave-style party is planned for a country park this weekend – now Sussex Police has invited itself along.
The party is due to take place in Southwater Country Park, near Horsham, at 7pm on Saturday.
Nearly 1,000 people have joined a Facebook group set up by a boy who said he was a pupil at Tanbridge House School in Horsham, although 1,600 people have been invited.
People have spoken excitedly about the party, although some have suggested they might be expelled from school if they attend.
It appears there have previously been attempts made to shut down the party.
What the organisers probably did not anticipate is the police getting wind of it and inviting themselves along.
Horsham Police joined the ‘Party’ Facebook group today and has said they too will be attending.
A statement from the force to would-be partygoers said: “Dear all.
“This notice is to advise you that we have been made fully aware of this event and your intentions to attend.
“We would suggest that you do not attend as we will have officers in the area on the night and they will also be in attendance to stop the party from happening.
“If anyone is found at the location they will be asked to leave.”
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers are aware of a party taking place in Southwater 28-30 March. Anyone found at the location will be asked to leave.”
Tanbridge House School declined to comment.
