Adur and Worthing councils have bid farewell to a number of long-serving staff in preparation for the arrival of a new management team.
Andrew Gardiner began working in local government in 1972 and joined Worthing Borough Council in 1979.
He was appointed to corporate director in Adur District Council in 2006 and then became part of the joint management team in April 2008. In total he served 42 years in local government, 35 of them in the Adur and Worthing area.
Paul Spedding will be leaving his post as executive head of housing health and community safety after nearly 30 years service in Adur and then jointly for both Adur and Worthing for six years.
The last member of the senior staff to be departing is Bill Parsons, who is leaving as corporate strategy manager. He worked for Worthing Borough Council in 1999 and then took up his current post for Adur and Worthing councils in 2009 where he served for 15 years.
Chief executive of the councils, Alex Bailey, said: “We wish all three of our colleagues well and thank them for their combined service of nearly 90 years to the communities of Adur and Worthing.”
