An online counselling service targeted at young people has been officially launched.
E-motion will offer help to people aged between 13 and 25 in Brighton and Hove.
It is a partnership between Sussex Central YMCA Youth Advice Centre, the Impact-Initiatives Young People’s Centre and Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group.
The service will offer counselling by email and complements the organisation's existing face- to-face counselling services.
The scheme aims to target people who, for whatever reason, do not chose to access conventional one to one counselling.
This includes those who can't get to the centres because of their location, illness, responsibilities as carers, disability, mental health conditions or other personal circumstances.
It will also help when other services are shut during school holidays or for those who may not want anyone to know they are getting counselling.
Counselling co-ordinator Ginny Roads said: “This is an exciting new project giving young people the opportunity access an alternative to counselling other than talking to a counsellor face to face.
“It meets young people where they feel most comfortable, is often more convenient and reflects their growing use of technology and the internet.”
