A controversial artist is calling on ladies to have their breasts and bums scanned for a charity art- work.
Jamie McCartney, who is best known for his Great Wall of Vagina artwork, is producing the new piece to raise money for Breast Cancer UK.
He is appealing to women of all shapes and sizes, to have their bums and breasts scanned in their choice of underwear for a special collage.
Twenty five per cent of money made will go to the cancer charity.
He said: “The photos are taken using a document scanner, like sitting on a photocopier. “It’s fast and fun and all for a good cause. Three quarters of us will get cancer at some point – let’s fight back.”
Internationally acclaimed Mr McCartney is well-known in Brighton for his thought pro- voking and often challenging pieces.
His Ship Street Gardens shop is popular spot with locals and tourists alike.
Mr McCartney’s often taboo subject material has seen him court controversy over the years.
In 2012, he defied the International Olympic Committee’s rules on official branding by creating his own rings using hundreds of multicoloured men’s privates.
Later in the year he faced the wrath of Japanese authorities when his artwork featured in magazines The Shukan Post and Shukan Gendai.
But his work is also widely celebrated, no more so than in Brighton and Hove.
Perhaps his most widely seen piece is the three metre high red
stocking-clad legs which adorn the top of Duke’s at the Komedia, in Gardner Street.
For his new work he is calling on women to head to Brighton’s Warehouse Gallery, in Gloucester Road, on Saturday.
Once there they will have the choice of having their breasts or bums scanned for his new work.
He said: “They should bring a selection of bras, particularly red, white, blue, bright colours and patterned, striped and polka- dot ones. “I’m doing the same with knickers – colourful, funny, frilly – which will also be used to cre- ate a fundraiser poster. I’m doing a bum one and a groin one as well.”
He added: “People can do as many or as few of these things as they wish. Lastly I’m now doing boys in pants for testicular can- cer so they can also grab their Calvin Kleins and come on down with the ladies.
“People can just turn up on Saturday or email me to set up another date and time at my studio.”
