Schoolchildren were diverted after the body of a man was discovered near the start of a country trail.
The man's body was found near the start of the Cuckoo Trail, close to the Polegate Bypass, on Monday afternoon.
The route is popular with youngsters walking to and from class and they were told to take an alternative route.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman confirmed:Police and ambulance services attended an area of woodland near the start of the Cuckoo Trail at Polegate where a body was discovered on Monday afternoon.
"The body, thought to be that of a man in his 30s, was found by a member of the public around 2.20pm, not far from the A27 Polegate bypass.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been passed to the coroner's officer. The man's next of kin have been informed."
