IN 2012 the UK spent £8 billion on overseas aid. This figure has since increased.
I agree the UK should help poorer countries by sending millions of pounds to the Red Cross so that aid can be given to provide shelter, food, clean water and medicine.
However, since, for example, India has launched a rocket into space, I also believe we should pay less money directly to developing governments.

But for many in this country now living on the breadline or below it, they have to live counting on the last penny.
Some rely on food banks to eat. This situation may not only apply to pensioners but also to those unemployed and other people in need.
Yes, this kind-hearted Government can give our money away abroad but not to our own people who need help.
Please be fair to this country’s needy as charity really does begin at home.
