So another consultation on the 20mph speed limit for Brighton and Hove (The Argus, March 13).
I am sure Councillor Ian Davey, Brighton and Hove City Council’s transport chair, will want this carried out in double-quick time.
Perhaps he would like to tell us how he will control the two-thirds of Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Woodingdean and other areas to come.
The only way, which will come eventually, will be with speed cameras.
Perhaps Coun Davey would like to reply through the Letters page and tell us whether or not cameras will be used.
CP Humphrey, Melrose Avenue, Portslade
In the report on extending the 20mph limit, Coun Davey said casualties and accidents were down. A year is far too short a time to draw that conclusion.
There is too much chance involved, like throwing a dice.
Where the zones have been in force for some time, there has either been no change or the casualties have increased.
Most people now realise that this is the case.
The 20mph supporters are concentrating more on mythical advantages.
Chris Gould, Worthing
