Television's Russell Brand was in Brighton last night.
He was with Archie Coates, vicar of St Peter’s Church, and Clare Kennedy, who is the wife of Coronation Street’s Curly Watts – real name Kevin Kennedy.
Unfortunately Mr Kennedy was at work so could not meet Mr Brand, but sent a letter.
Mrs Kennedy, of Hove, told The Argus how her and her husband met Mr Brand recently and their bonded over their shared histories.
Both have struggled with addictions.
Mr and Mrs Kennedy plan to set up a ‘dry bar’ in Brighton.
Today she revealed how the bar was going to be in the city centre, although she did not want to reveal its exact whereabouts.
“We’re applying for funding through Public Health England and the National Lottery,” she explained.
“It should be open in around September or possibly a bit later.”
The bar will be called Kennedy Street and Co. Community Interest Company.
She told how Mr Brand attended St Peter’s Church todiscuss his recovery and also meet church members.
“Everyone found it very inspiring,” she said.
“He gave hope and proved recovery is possible.”
