A man in his 20s was stabbed in the stomach while walking.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in Chapel Park Road, St Leonards, on Sunday, March 9.
The victim, of Eastbourne, was walking with others when the assault took place at about 8pm.
He received a single stab wound to the stomach requiring surgery, but is now recovering.
A 34-year-old man from Hastings was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was questioned and bailed until Tuesday, April 15, while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Rob Tillyer said; "Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call us on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1358 of 9/3.
"Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
