Your round-up of Brighton Fringe in The Guide on Friday (March 14) made reference to Brighton-born composer Frank Bridge, whose birthplace was 7 North Street.
Frank Bridge was born in 1879 and died in 1941. He was a resident of Brighton, London and later Friston in East Sussex.
He was a gifted composer, played the viola most notably with the English String Quartet, he conducted and taught Benjamin Britten who spoke very highly of his teaching.
He has not had the recognition he deserved and it would be good if his home town got behind him to add to the contribution already made by the Frank Bridge Trust and others.
Brighton Festival provides an opportunity to honour him and, in an ideal world, part of 7 North Street could be turned into a museum for him.
Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra has played his works over the years and will be playing his composition, The Sea, on Sunday, March 30, at the Dome Concert Hall from 2.45pm.
