Bullying is a terrible scourge in life (The Argus, March 10).

Nothing can justify this sort of behaviour and the school authorities must deal with it in a robust manner.

Children can be cruel. If a child has an abnormality they will be the victim of hurtful actions.

The single biggest cause of bad behaviour is overcrowding.

Sadly, when you put people into a small space such as a classroom it will bring out the worst in them.

A school is a perfect breeding ground for bullies. But the problem will never be fully eradicated unless we drastically reduce class sizes.

Unfortunately this is probably ruled out because of cost.

In the meantime, all that can be done is to deal with bullying as it arises.
