Well done to Tabitha Nixon (Letters, March 6) for highlighting the assault on Brighton’s character happening as a result of building developments.
The area below Brighton Station is almost entirely covered with unexciting medium-rise blocks. People coming into the city by train can no longer enjoy stunning views across to the racecourse. It’s just the same as arriving anywhere else.
Let’s not turn Brighton into a carbon (or concrete) copy of every other place in the UK.

Save The Market Against Development is a group campaigning against the demolition of the market in Circus Street that Tabitha refers to. Email saveourmarket@yahoo.co.uk to help us protest. If the market has to be knocked down, let’s have a green space with a pond for children to swim in over the summer, not more buildings in this overcrowded city.
