Again, travellers have set down on Wild Park in Brighton.
The extreme southern fringe of Wild Park from the Home Farm approach to the main park entrance is now an eyesore.
This has been created by the travellers themselves and by efforts to stop their access.
It would be sensible to develop this land with housing. A proper gate could then be constructed to prevent caravans and lorries gaining access to the main area of the park.
Other parks and open spaces could be blocked off in this fashion. It is sad that such action is necessary but it appears all else has failed.
In addition these measures would provide much needed housing accommodation.

We now know why the council is putting up our council tax by 1.99% (The Argus, March 6): to pay the eviction and clean-up costs when the travellers are removed from Wild Park.
I think I may well stop my direct debit to the council in protest. I just wonder how long it would be before I received a letter due to non-payment.
I, and many others, will be so happy when the next election arrives, and we can get rid of this council once and for all.
I think we have all learnt a few very costly lessons.
