At a time when confidence in politics locally and nationally is so low, one would think that Brighton and Hove City Council would be keen to show that its democratic values and processes are worthy of support in the elections next year.

I am sorry to say that I am extremely disappointed to have observed the sheer determination of the council’s Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee to push through Controlled Parking Scheme E north of Preston Park Station in the face of much factual evidence that it was not wanted by the majority of residents in the area.

That is not to say that there are not problems in perhaps two hot spots but the council chose instead to support the recommendation of a report that, in my opinion, used information that appeared to be selective, inaccurate and poorly gathered.
