If developers proposed to build on the hallowed ground of the Wordsworth country there would be a national outcry, protests in Parliament and they would probably risk a lynching.

So why is Sussex fair ground for such desecration?

Parkland was officially defined for the protection of the Downs and greenbelt but now beady eyes are bent on Ovingdean and Rottingdean; a government inspector has the impertinence to refuse Brighton’s proposals and ask for more building space.

These demands and greedy hands of developers must be resisted firmly by a concerted no and a demonstration that Sussex “won’t be druv”.
