I read with interest in The Argus (February 21) that Sharlene James has been jailed for two years for accusing a man of rape knowing it to be untrue.
Why? Why only two years? If he had been found guilty he could have faced at least ten years, so why was she not given the same?
She is not the first woman to do such a despicable thing.
Do these people not realise what they are doing?
Of course they do. They destroy a man’s life. This will always be in the back of his mind.
They also waste police time and public money and pervert the course of justice.
All this and, in addition, there is the harm they do to their victim’s family and friends.
No. Not two years, ten.
