I understand why residents of Ditchling Gardens and Ditchling Place, who I represent on the council, feel cut off from family and friends since controlled parking was brought in (The Argus, March 3).
Many older and disabled residents living in council-run sheltered housing there rely on visitors.
At the planning stage I met residents to hear their concerns, which I then put to council officers.
I attended the transport committee meeting where the final decision was made and pointed out the difficulties this controlled parking scheme would cause.
I asked for special consideration to be given to these residents (Letters, June 25) but my requests were turned down.
Now that the scheme has been running for some months it is clear it has caused the predicted problems and anxieties for people.
I will now be asking council officers to meet with residents to hear about the problems first-hand and consider a solution.
Councillor Jeane Lepper, Labour and Co-operative, Hollingdean and Stanmer ward, Brighton and Hove City Council
