I have now attended both the programme launch events for Friends of the Brighton Festival and the Brighton Fringe.
I have to say that both gatherings were excellent.
I was particularly impressed with the Fringe launch party at the Sea Life centre on Brighton seafront on Tuesday evening.
The organisers managed to create a really welcoming and informative evening in a top-class venue.
The whole event had a distinctive “Brighton” atmosphere.
We particularly enjoyed the “taster” performances by the Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, The Brighton Syncho Swimmers and the Hot Potato Syncopators.
As an “addict” Friend of the Fringe I was able to bring along three other guests. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Even my three-year-old granddaughter was enthralled. It was a real treat for her.
I have to say I feel really lucky that these festivals are taking place in Brighton. Looking at both programmes there are a huge range of experiences on offer crossing all areas of entertainment including dance, theatre, circus, film, art, music and a number of outdoor and family events.
It does take a little while to have a proper look at the brochures but I’m sure everyone could find something they wanted to book. And many of the events are free.
I think both of these festivals make the month of May a really exciting time for everyone living in, and visiting, our city.
