A Littlehampton academy head resigned from his post on New Year’s Eve.
Steve Jewell left his role as principal of Littlehampton Academy on December 31 after more than four years in the post.
The school in Fitzalan Road, Littlehampton, was visited by Ofsted in December and the report on the school’s performance is set to be published in the coming weeks.
The Woodard Academies Trust has confirmed Marianne Gentilli will serve as acting principal when the school reopens today.
It was due to reopen for the new term on Monday but due to continuing problems with the heating system the school has been closed to students.
Mr Jewell was appointed as principal in April 2009 after previously being head-teacher of St Andrew’s High School in Worthing.
He said: “As founding principal I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the many students, parents, colleagues, academy councillors, church leaders and other members of the local community and felt privileged to guide the design of the academy’s fantastic new building, which will benefit the local community for many years.”
