Firefighters have spent a third consecutive night tackling a major barn fire.
More than a dozen firefighters were called to a blaze at a barn on a farm in Whiteway, Alfriston, at 6.30pm last night.
Concerned eyewitnesses said the barn had caught alight with livestock inside.
On arrival the crew found that twenty tonnes of hay was being stored in the building and the cattle had been led to safety by the owner.
Crews in breathing apparatus removed a CO2 extinguisher and a number of petrol canisters and tackled the blaze with foam and water.
The incident involved firefighters and officers from Seaford, Newhaven, Eastbourne, Uckfield and Lewes and crew remained at the scene until this morning to monitor the site.
