If I were a voter in Brighton, all the “achievements” of Caroline Lucas listed by Davy Jones in his letter (September 2) would be sufficient for me to look for an alternative.
That she opposes fracking we all know but, in reality, she and the Green Party are so committed to all things renewable that they appear opposed to the use of fossil fuels.
I wonder about the views of someone who, when challenged on the high subsidies wind farm developers receive, said that “nascent” industries need subsidies to help them become competitive and viable.
Up to now, the subsidy system has been operative for more than 20 years and is set to go on in one form or another for 25 more years. Nascent?
In my opinion, the Green Party will never be more than a minor political sideshow that, in comparison, makes the Liberal Democrat (shirt-tail) Party look significant.
For the record, after 60-plus years as a voter I have become apolitical. At the 2015 general election, I’ll probably vote for the party I dislike the least.
