I received a parking ticket last Tuesday while visiting a friend in Moulsecoomb for parking in the residents’ parking zone for Amex stadium events.
I missed the date on the sign at the entrance to the zone, which is my own fault and I have no defence.
What does annoy me, however, was that I was ticketed nearly eight hours before the match kicked off.
This parking zone was sold to residents as a measure to eliminate football supporters parking in the streets near the stadium.
I doubt any supporter would park up eight hours before a match.
What it proves is that far from it being a measure to help residents, it is in fact yet another way to wring money out of the pockets of motorists and into the council’s coffers.
