A lot of households have at least one or maybe two cars.

Some of the roads being targeted by Brighton and Hove City Council in its verge parking “crackdown” (The Argus, October 3), such as Braybon Avenue and Greenfield Crescent, for example, should have the verges removed and car spaces provided.

Cars are necessary to most families and grass verges are not.

The council moans about a lack of money for gardeners (especially in Patcham – Withdean Park doesn’t have one) so this will save mowing the grass.

I don’t agree with the idea of ugly wooden posts being erected on some verges to keep cars off, such as in Braybon Avenue.

Given the bunding, barriers and gates to keep travellers off (which don’t work anyway) and posts to keep residents off verges, I suggest the council saves our money and uses it to help residents where they live.
