Celia Imrie opened a new Hove art gallery celebrating the best in contemporary British art.

Celia Imrie and fellow actor Richard Heffer were among those at the glitzy opening of Cameron Contemporary Art, in Second Avenue, Hove, on Saturday.

Owner Robin Cameron, who runs the venue with his artist wife Kirsty Wither, said: “We’ve been doing art fairs and running spaces in London and Brighton for years but we’ve always wanted our own personal space.

“When we found out this place in Hove was going to be available we thought we would take our chances – despite everyone reminding us there was a still a recession going on.

“We gave ourselves the ambitious target of opening within one month of getting the keys and we got there with the skin of our teeth.”

Among those exhibiting the work will be Brighton-based artists Ann Magill and Mark Johnson.
