Workmen hope to finish their restoration of the Beachy Head Lighthouse within a matter of days.
Despite the unsettled weather, painters and decorators from Hailsham-based Sussex Blast Cleaning have been making good progress to spruce up the stripes on the lighthouse.
The crew left the lighthouse on Wednesday night because high winds scuppered further work but were returning today.
Left on their to-do list is the final application of three coats of paint to the tower and painting the hand rails around the lantern balcony, the balcony walkway, the front door and the steps leading to the landing area.
The lighthouse hit the headlines last week when painters used primer to daub the words: "If any humans still exist send beer" on its walls.
The words have now been covered again by the building's distinctive stripes.
