Two human rights activists are pounding the streets in preparation for a gruelling trek to London to demand justice for Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Deghayes.
Glenn Williams and Sally Griffiths, of the Save Omar campaign, will begin their 60-mile walk on Saturday morning from the Palace Pier, Brighton, and hope to reach Whitehall in three days. Saltdean resident Omar Deghayes has been held in Guantanamo Bay for more than four years.
Mr Williams, of Park Crescent Road, Brighton, said: "We are making what we are calling a special delivery to Margaret Beckett after she has ignored more than 1,000 postcards sent to her by Omar's supporters. We hope it will be a strong statement and that the Government will not keep ignoring our campaign."
Campaigners will gather at the pier at 8.30am and walk with them for the first few miles. They will greet them at Brixton's underground station on Tuesday to walk to 10 Downing Street to hand a protest letter to Tony Blair.
Anyone wishing to join in any part of the walk can turn up at the pier or call Glenn on 07973 228335.
