Schoolchildren have completed an epic journey from Addis Ababa to Hanoi after three solid days of running.
More than 7,000 primary school students completed their 7,289km mission – the distance from Addis Ababa to Hanoi.
Schoolchildren from Brighton and Hove and Worthing have been donning their togs for Run the World since Wednesday and pupils completed the last leg yesterday.
Over the course of three action-packed days, which started at Preston Park in Brighton Wednesday, children between the ages of seven and 11 will be on the fitness trail as they cover a kilometre each.
Twenty-two Brighton schools and 14 from the Worthing area have signed up an impressive total of 7,864 pupils who will cast aside their text books for the day in return for a taste of a virtual journey of a lifetime.
On Thursday, the young runners were in Hove Park, Hove, where they did not let the filthy conditions deter them from completing their 1,000m shift.
Yesterday, runners clocked up the metres at Homefield Park in Worthing.
Andy Shaddick from Southern Water, who is sponsoring the event, said: “We are delighted to again be supporting this fantastic sporting challenge for local schoolchildren across Brighton and Hove and Worthing.”
