Trouble flared up in the stands during Albion’s weekend clash away at Ipswich.
Three Seagulls supporters were kicked out of the Portman Road ground, with four home fans also ejected.
It is thought that the disturbance started after homophobic chanting by the home fans.
Darren Balkham, Sussex Police’s football liaison officer, said that investigations were ongoing into an alleged incident involving an Albion fan and a steward.
He said: “The chanting resulted in a strong reaction from the away fans and we are looking at CCTV footage to work out what happened.”
Albion lost the league game 2-0.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
