Two elderly women died and four remain in hospital after a car crash last night (September 28).
Emergency services were called to the A285 at the junction of Selhurstpark Road, Upwaltham, shortly before 11pm.
Two cars are said to have collided before one burst into flames.
Two men escaped from the burning vehicle and were taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.
Two elderly women – who were in the other car - died at the scene while two other passengers were taken by ambulance to Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital.
They remain in a serious condition.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting Ardington.
