In The Argus (September 20) we had one item stating that Portslade primary schools were under-subscribed because Hove schools were siphoning pupils away.

Another item said that West Blatchington Primary School was under-subscribed.

And then the head of the Bilingual Primary School stated that we needed a school in Hove because there would not be enough school spaces for children in Hove.

So, what is the truth among all these statements?

According to another source, only 12 parking spaces were allocated in the planning application for a school with a projected 630 pupil intake plus teaching and ancillary staff.

Where would they have parked? No doubt they would have competed to park in the side streets with the Legal & General staff.

How would they have travelled in? All the pious talk about children walking to school or taking public transport was clearly hot air because the school intended to take pupils from the whole area.

There would have been a massive increase in traffic.

Would our Green council have seized the opportunity to introduce expensive resident parking into this area on the back of this parking problem?

The head of the Bilingual Primary School also mentioned that 1,000 homes were being built in the area and that more schools were needed.

Again, isn’t it the case that a new school was in the planning application for Toads Hole Valley?

Added to the issues of Portslade schools lacking pupils and West Blatchington school being under-subscribed, I am unclear about this statement.

I would also like clarification about whether this bilingual school is a state-funded or privately-funded school.

Can anyone shed light on the truth of the situation?

Caroline Lucas, as a Green MP, should be questioning and challenging her own Green councillors about their development plans within the Brighton and Hove area.
