Following recent press reports on the outcome of the next general election, in which it is now suggested that a vote for Ukip might enable Labour to take office, it is time to dispel the myth that all Ukip supporters are disgruntled Tories.
I became a Labour Party activist as a direct result of Margaret Thatcher’s “if it isn’t hurting, it isn’t working” economic policy.
Having seen Labour elected into office I learnt the hard way. I do not think Labour is interested in creating a fair, just or equal society. It wants a society where no one is allowed to be successful. Look at its education policy: 50% of school-leavers should obtain a university degree. Sounds wonderful, except that the whole purpose of a university degree is to cream off the educated elite in order to benefit industry and, in turn, the whole economy.
Now we have thousands of students wasting three years of their life obtaining a degree not worth the paper it’s printed on.
And remember the 2005 election in which all three parties promised that the Lisbon Treaty would not be signed without a referendum of the British people?
I know of many former Labour Party activists like myself who support Ukip as they feel it is the only party willing to listen to ordinary people.
