A new academy in the city is using the latest technology to drive up standards, and the early signs look good.
City Academy Whitehawk, formerly Whitehawk Primary School, were given 52 iPads to help out in the classroom.
Teachers at the brand new academy in Whitehawk Road were presented with an iPad each, donated by education charity the Fonthill Foundation.
Chairman of the charity, Andrew Goodall, was introduced to the new academy school by Michael Beard, editor of The Argus, and he immediately saw the potential for supporting the new academy school and proposed the scheme.
Budding writers in year six used the iPads to write about their initial experiences at the school, and it seems the revamp has not only made an impression on parents and teachers, but students too.
