Pirates and smugglers battled it out in the grounds of Arundel Castle to the joy of the viewing public.
Set in The Keep last Sunday the exciting event provided fun for all the family with combat demonstrations from 18th century pirates.
The event featured performers from the Raven Tor Living History Group with action packed demonstrations of weapons, combat, costume, crafts and activities from the period.
Visitors also enjoyed seeing weaponry from the 18th Century, participating in 18th Century craft demonstrations and listening to a storyteller recounting tales from the period.
Castle manager Bryan McDonald said: “This Pirates and Smugglers Day is a thrilling display that treats visitors to the buzz and excitement of the period.
“Visitors are able to see, learn and experience 18th Century pirate and civilian-life for themselves.”
The next event at the castle will be Normans and Crusaders in the Keep on October 30 and 31, 2013. Tickets start from £8. For more information visit arundelcastle.org.
