People have been getting a closer look at a “borrowed” garden, pop-up cafe and a sound installation that has been temporarily set up in a city centre.

The lawns around St Peter’s Church in Brighton have been revamped to show residents Brighton and Hove City Council’s plans for Valley Gardens.

The ‘borrowed’ garden is made up of plants borrowed from community gardens and projects across the city.

The proposal for the area between The Level and Palace Pier roundabout will see a complete redesign of infrastructure.

Under plans, traffic would be rerouted with buses running on the west side of the gardens and cars to the east.

There would also be a dedicated cycle and bus lane and a treelined avenue.

Valley Gardens is a junction for three major routes into the centre.

The consultation runs until September 29.
