I am not surprised that funding is not forthcoming for the i360 “pie in the sky” observation platform (The Argus, September 20).
Has anybody taken a look of the panorama from a helicopter or tethered balloon, where 180 degrees of the view is of the sea?
How many full working days of the year will the pod be expected to operate?
How many trips per day will it make?
How many paying customers would be required per day to pay for running and maintenance costs?
A high-up, wide-angle television camera projected on to a large observation table at ground level as an update of the Victorian camera obscura would be cheaper and more profitable.
