The largest women’s conference held by the Labour Party was staged over the weekend with more than 1,000 delegates.
The Women’s Conference brought keynote speeches from big-hitting Labour figures such as Harriet Harman and Yvette Cooper.
Issues such as the cost of living for families, challenges facing older women, violence and issues around pregnancy were discussed.
Yvette Cooper, MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford, told delegates: “When Harriet Harman started the Saturday conference three years ago, 300 women joined us in Manchester town hall.
“Two years ago it was 400, last year it was 600, this year 1,000 Labour women have registered and will join us at different times today.
“Now we have 87 women MPs, over 2,000 women councillors, women leading the Labour Lords, Labour in the Scottish Parliament and our MEPs.”
