Even the family dog is promised great fun at the annual Rise charity walk and run under the cliffs of Saltdean next month.
The Sussex refuge and domestic abuse charity will host its sixth 8K Undercliff Run for Women on Sunday, October 6 from Saltdean’s beach.
Naomi Bos, Rise Communications Officer, said: “Everyone is welcome on the family walk. In the past even family pets have joined in.”
The run, which starts at 10.15am heads towards Brighton and will raise money for local families affected by domestic abuse.
The family walk starts at 9.15am and follows the same route.
Ms Bos said: “We’re going to have a Zumba warm-up and there will be music and a live band throughout the event.”
Rise (refuge, information, support and education) receives nearly 3,000 calls to its helpline each year. The charity offers legal advice, accommodation, counselling and support groups, and children’s services.
Most of the charity’s services are free but it costs more than £3,000 every day to make them available.
Organisers are expecting this year’s event to be over subscribed. The run is limited to 400 places and Ms Bos said half them have already been booked.
You can sign up for the event at www.riseuk.org.uk. Registered entrants can receive a free training-session with FitBitch Running Club.
